October 25-29, 2020

Dive into the rural South of France, through massive gorges, overnighting under the stars, into remote mountains paths, splendid valleys and tough little shepherd’s villages. Nothing will stop you down and around the Valleys of the Rugged South, be ready for spelunking, rock climbing, canoeing for a legendary trekking experience in the austere and resistant French backcountry.

4 days/3 nights : 449$ / 399€ (including accomodation and F&B*, climbing & spelunking equipment)

Official Schedule

Day 1: Arrival day!

We will welcome you before 5PM at Le Guillaume d’Orange hotel located in Saint Guilhem le Desert in South Of France. After checking yourself in cozy room’s you will be guided to visit this historical rich village of St Guilhem Le Desert which was awarded most beautiful village of France.

7.30PM: will serve you a local diner made out regional products and give you the adventure briefing then get over your gear together to ensure everything is in order and you don’t miss anything.

Day 2: Hiking day!

7AM: Breakfast,

8AM: 15km trek starting by crossing the village and making our way up to the top of the Cirque des Fenestrettes offering us a magnificent view point on the valley below. We will continue our progression using Goat shepherd paths. captivated by the songs of the local Cigales and the scents of the surrounding herb’s such as Tym and Rosemarie,

12AM: Lunch on the trail,

1PM: resuming trek, its Land navigation skills which will bring us to our 1st objective the well know climbing site of La Joncas,

4PM: Camps set up, get ourselves clean and rest before dinner,

6.30PM: BBQ Diner.

Day 3: Climbing day!

6.30AM: Breakfast and camp uninstallation,

7.30AM: Whatever if it’s your first time or you already are pro climbers, C4 climbing guides will be there to assist you and bring the most of this experience. You will spend quality time challenging yourself on these well know rock faces,

11AM: when the day start to heating up we will trek 3km to the Grotte des Fées a stunning cave where the cool temperature will make it perfect to have lunch,

1PM: The day isn’t over and we still have ground to make to reach our camp site. During 11km we will progress in a dry river bed through canyon and forest to arrive to Notre Dame De l’Hermitage a catholic Abbey nestled in the mountain were an hermit is living we will set our tents under a Salzman pine’s forest. Cleaning up ourselves with fresh water coming out right from the Mountain,

7PM: A merited dinner will be served under the stars.

Day 4: Spelunking day!

7AM: Breakfast and camp uninstallation,

8AM: We will begin our day with a 4km trek to la Baume de l’Olivier a Cliff well known for its numerous caves systems. After a series of 4 rappelling down the valley we will arrive to the Grotte du Sergent a cave used by the resistance during the Second World War,

10.30AM: Spelunking, exploring the cave system and having our lunch in this cool place will be amazing. We should exit the cave around midafternoon and trek 4km up to the typical goat shepherd hamlet of L’Estagnol where we will set camp for the night,

3PM: Arrival to L’Estagnol camp installation and rest,

6.30pm: Diner.

Day 5: Departure !

Room Check out before 12am or you will be able to extend their trip if like to.

Recommended gear list:

  • 1  50/70lt durable backpack
  • A series of waterproof / dry bag 40lt, 20lt, 10lt
  • 1 trekking / Hiking shoes.
  • 1 pair of sleepers
  • 2 Hiking pants
  • 2 Short sleeve tee shirt (quick dry)
  • 2 long sleeve tee shirt (quick dry)
  • 1 warm sweater or fleece jacket
  • 1 Wind breaker / rain jacket
  • 1 short
  • 1 hat
  • 3 pair of sock and a set of underwear’s
  • Sleeping bag  +10C 
  • 1 big water container (1lt min)
  • 1 electric lamp
  • 1 knife + eating kit (fork, spoon, canteen…)
  • 1 mosquito repellant.
  • Sun protection cream
  • Sun glasses
  • 1 small towel, soap, brush teeth….
  • Personal medicine if needed

Optional:

  • Goretex shell for sleeping bag
  • Pair of gloves
  • 5m of paracord
